First Institution in Virginia to offer students Transact Mobile Credential
In 2022, Roanoke College rolled out Transact Mobile Credential for their Maroon Card program. As of June 2024, 2,300+ credentials have been provisioned.

Roanoke College is a private liberal arts college in Salem, Virginia, with just over 1,800 enrolled students.
Roanoke and Transact have been partners since the mid-2000s, with Transact providing innovative solutions to enhance their campus experience. Our collaboration has led to creating a mobile-centric campus experience for the Maroon Card program, campus commerce, and integrated payments.

From this partnership, Roanoke now benefits from a comprehensive range of Transact services. These include the Transact Transaction System Enterprise (TSE), Transact Online Photo Submission, Transact Mobile Credential, Transact Cloud POS, Transact Registers, Transact Off-Campus Merchants, Transact Mobile Ordering, Transact Payment Processing, Transact ePayment, Transact Refunds, and more.

Roanoke made the transition from plastic to mobile student ID cards
In 2006, Roanoke turned to Transact, a strategic partner specializing in higher education, to address the need to provide their students with a single one-card Campus ID solution.
Terri Fox reflected, stating, "We didn't have a one-card system at all. So [Transact True Credential and ID Management] provided that service to our students, provided us a way to have a consistent point-of-sale system across campus, and eventually to offer Mobile Ordering and Mobile Credentials to our students."
In 2022, Roanoke College introduced Transact Mobile Credential. This allows students to choose between using a physical Maroon Card or a digital version.

Maroon Card Mobile Credentials, Roanoke's digital student ID card, has over 2,300+ provisions
Students have widely embraced the Transact Mobile Credential. Since its launch in 2022, the Maroon Card Mobile Credentials have experienced a remarkable 96% year-over-year growth in provisioned Mobile Credential.
In the fall of 2024, Roanoke College plans to go fully digital and remove its plastic version. Terri and other staff members are excited about this change because of the college's massive success.
